On 29 April 2025, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) together with Ambassador U Tin Maung Swe of Myanmar were warmly received by Vice Governor Fang Wei of Jiangsu Province. They exchanged views on ASEAN-China relations and discussed about strengthening cooperation between Jiangsu and ASEAN Member States, including Myanmar.
Fang Wei introduced the economic and social development achievements in Jiangsu Province, highlighting that Jiangsu has been at the forefront nationwide in such fields as manufacturing, technological innovation, and opening-up. He said Jiangsu aims to build an industrial technology innovation centre with global influence, an advanced manufacturing base with global competitiveness, and a two-way opening-up hub with global appeal. As China and ASEAN are strengthening the building of a closer community with a shared future, Jiangsu would like to deepen cooperation with Myanmar and ASEAN countries in various fields, to boost investment to Myanmar, import more products from Myanmar, promote people-to-people exchanges, and contribute to the national development of both countries.

Ambassador U Tin Maung Swe stated that the “Pauk-phaw” friendship between Myanmar and China remains evergreen and ever-renewing. Recently, when Myanmar was hit by a severe earthquake disaster, the Chinese government and people provided selfless assistance to Myanmar at the earliest opportunity, once again demonstrating the community of shared future forged through trials and tribulations. The Myanmar Embassy will play an active role to enhance exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu Province and Myanmar’s local governments, to promote new achievements in cooperation between both sides in such fields as economy and trade, people-to-people exchanges, science and technology, and education.
Shi Zhongjun elaborated on the ACC's support for Chinese local governments to expand cooperation with ASEAN countries. He expected Jiangsu and Myanmar to explore the potential for cooperation in various fields and promote mutually beneficial cooperation projects. The ACC will remain committed to serving as a two-way bridge for cooperation, promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Jiangsu and ASEAN countries, and enriching the closer ASEAN-China community with a shared future.
During the visit in Jiangsu Province, Shi Zhongjun and Ambassador U Tin Maung Swe also visited a high-tech enterprise in China's energy internet sector, a leading agricultural machinery company, and a rural revitalization town, to gain an in-depth understanding of the development of advanced manufacturing, high-tech industries, and characteristic local industries in China.
