Mu Cang Chai yellow terraced fields (Yen Bai Province) in the Northwest highlands are 1.750m high compared with sea level, far 300km of mountain pass and slope road from Hanoi. Visiting Mu Cang Chai, tourists will be surprised at amid the high mountains with full of obstacles and difficult of access; there are the gigantic and endless terraced fields of Mong people. In this region,there are approximately 90% Mong people, who had taken water rice to the high mountains and changed mountains and hills into layers of immense terraced fields curving round the mountain slope. In Mu Cang Chai town, terraced fields are in everywhere and take account of approximately 2.200ha. October is the month of yellow ripen rice, is the most beautiful month in Mu Cang Chai and the month at which quantity of tourists reaches the highest number. In three communes La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha and De Xu Phinh, 500ha of terraced fields have been kept intact and is the relic of Mong, which was ranked to be the national level relic.
