Long Tong festival is marked as the most scared festival of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups. Every year the festival occurs during the 1st lunar month. Local dwellers pay tribute to the deities and pray for favorable weather conditions and an abundant harvest. The main activity involves a farmer plowing fields with a buffalo to mark the beginning of the harvest.
