Yen Tu Festival

Located in the Yen Tu mountains, Thuong Yen Cong Commune, Uong Bi District, Quang Ninh Province, Yen Tu Festival commences annually on the 10th day of the first lunar month and lasts three lunar months. Yen Tu was home to the Buddhist  meditation center of the ancient kingdom Dai Viet. The Truc Lam Zen Monastery was founded here seven centuries ago by the King Tran Nhan Tong. Every year, tens of thousands of pilgrims begin their journey after a solemn ritual held at the base of Yen Tu mountain and travel across dense forests to the Bronze pagoda atop the mountain. Upon reaching the top visitors feel a sense like entering Nirvana.
