Cha ca La Vong – La Vong fried fish

La Vong fried fish was named in a noted book “1000 places to see before you die” by famous sightseer Patricia Schultz. In late 2003, La Vong fried fish was tagged by MSNBC as the fifth of ten places worth visiting in the world. Only the lang fish (dwarf catfish) is suitable for the dish as its meat is sweet, tasty, solid and fragrant. Sitting down at a table, guests should take the chance to watch the preparation process: the dish is coocked in the center of the table with oil, as pieces of “lang”fish coupled with fennel and spring onions soak in the oil. The dish is best served with well-stirred shrimp paste sauce mixed up with lemon and a few slices of chili. Also add grilled ground nuts of gold yellow color, white soft rice vermicelli and fresh raw vegetables. Pieces of fried fish, yellow in color and fragrant in smell, will definitely seduce your taste buds. There are many places in Hanoi  where you can enjoy La Vong fried fish, yet No. 14 Cha Ca Str. should come as your first choice.
