Was just sitting idle when i thought of practising a little in Adobe Illustrator. After a while i had made Itunes 10 Logo (which is a degradation from the previous iTunes Logos). Thn i decided to turn it into a tutorial and here it is:
Its always best to let the image speak, so there isnt much to read, but to see.
The first thing to do is to create a color swatch of itunes logo’s colors. This always helps. Next to the swatch is the layer arrangement. Its always best to manage your layers with proper names, so that it doesn’t get confusing later.

Lets start at the bottom with creating the gray circle (using the Ellipse Tool), however there is a dark groove at the outer edge, which we will manage to create by using the 3 stage radial gradient.

Next we will create the blueish tones inside by making a simple circle and filling in with the gradient.

Next is the creation of the musical note with help of Pen Tool.

Just fill it with 3 stage linear gradient with vertical incline

Put a black stroke on this Musical Note. The width may vary as per the size

That looks good, but we aren’t finished yet. Copy the musical note layer and fill it with solid white color. Place this layer under the Musical Note layer
Now apply the Gaussian blur. Use your own settings as they vary with size

Now we have to increase the size of the white blurred layer so that it looks as glow behind the musical note. This has to be done manually to get the right effect.

You can also play with transparency to get the desired effect.

Now, lets create the shade on the top. Its supposed to be a semi circle drawn with pen tool. Dont worry about the outer circle as we will be creating another layer on top of it. Once drawn, fill the semi circle with solid white color. Notice the layer arrangement so far.

Now reduce its transparency to 19% or so. Neat eh?

The only remaining part is the black shade inside the outer gray circle which can be easily drawn with pen. Now fill it with a 3 stage linear gradient

and we are done… Im known for missing out parts in tutorials, so do ask me if you didnt understand anything. Post a comment if you want the original file along with your email id.

I’d like to have a copy the file if available. Thank you.
I would like a copy of your original file, please. Thank you!
Hi there. Thanks for the tutorial! Any chance of getting a copy of your original file?
